The Grenadines: Strengthening
Transportation Links and Other
Critical Infrastructure
The Grenadines are an essential part
of the state of SVG. Though separated
by ocean, it is essential that we
provide proper transportation and
communication networks to unlock their
enormous economic potential.
We will:
Repair and maintain the road network
including the Barbruce Village road in
Canouan, the road from Island Paradise to
Munro Forde residence in Mayreau and the
Murray Village road in Union Island.
Expand jetties on Canouan, Mayreau and
Union Island.
Maintain all navigational lights to ensure
safety at sea.
Build desalination plants for the islands
of Union Island, Canouan and Mayreau to
ensure a sustainable water supply.
Establish a quick, efficient and reliable
air and water ambulance service from the
Southern Grenadines.
Ensure basic medication is available at
health centres in the Southern Grenadines,
and upgrade the Canouan Clinic to a Smart
Hospital.
Expand port facilities at Port Elizabeth for
ferries and regional cargo vessels.
Develop the Port Elizabeth and Hamilton
waterfront enhancing its beauty and
services.
Rebuild the Health Centre and the Police
Station at Paget Farm.
Return the Paget Farm Community Centre
to the people for general use.
Upgrade the health services in Bequia with
state-of-the-art services.
Repair roads throughout Bequia and
resurface the main roads with asphalt.
Repair and upgrade the Fishers’ village in
Mustique.
Upgrade the fisheries centre at Paget Farm
with additional ramp and locker spaces and
ice and freshwater services.
Establish a Marine Research Institute on
Canouan, with a branch in Union Island.
Repair or build hardcourts on Canouan,
Union, Mayreau and Bequia.
Ensure proper maintenance of the
J. F. Mitchell Airport on Bequia and other
Grenadines airports.
Establish a modern police facility on
Mayreau to cater to the safety of locals and
tourists.
Establish a disaster resilience programme
to protect homes and businesses.
Build an immigration and customs complex
at the port in Mayreau.
Improve tourism and recreation sites
including restroom facilities and a souvenir
shop at Fort Hamilton.
