Accountability and
Transparency in Government
For too long, SVG has been let down by
the ULP and their broken promises. The
ULP government has long paid scant
regard for the guardrails established
over time for the management of the
country’s finances. We will change
that, always being honest and
straightforward with the people.
We will:
Develop a transparent grants programme
to promote industries with the highest
identified growth potential, to ensure value
for the taxpayer dollar and the maximum
number of local jobs created.
Provide better public service, recognising
that it is crucial to effective government.
We will ensure hiring and promotions are a
merit-based system, following established
procedures and rules, not on party
affiliation.
Consult with the public service trade
unions in order to enhance the regulatory
framework of the public service to provide
for greater autonomy for managers to do
their work more effectively.
Ensure that all promotions in the public
service are merit based, so we have the
best people in the best roles.
Ensure that our bilateral and multilateral
arrangements will be subject to
parliamentary scrutiny and, where necessary,
authorisation.
