Providing Healthcare
You Can Trust
Healthy citizens are essential to our
nation’s development. Presently, our
healthcare system is plagued by rundown facilities such as MCMH, lack of
basic medicines, poor management, and
non-functional critical equipment like
the CT scan.
Our plan ensures everyone has access to good
healthcare in a caring environment supported
by well-trained professionals. This will only
happen when we invest in our people, modernise
our management and care delivery processes,
and improve our buildings and other necessary
infrastructure.
We will:
Create a National Health Insurance Plan
to ensure everyone has access to essential
healthcare and medicines.
Create the National Medicines Purchase
Fund to ensure critical medicines are
available and affordable.
Subsidise the cost of obtaining lifesaving
operations abroad that are unavailable in
SVG.
Complete the construction of the new
hospital ensuring that it is done properly
and efficiently and that it can meet all basic
medical needs in an enhanced manner.
Create and upgrade health clinics
throughout the country to bring healthcare
nearer to those who need it. Each
constituency will have at least one health
centre.
Create a National Mental Health Strategy
that will put mental health care as a
fundamental component of our healthcare
system and increase the level of specialised
services to assist patients.
Give $500 to mothers on the birth of a child
to help our newest citizens to get a good
start in life.
Expand the Home Care Programme and
widen accessibility to cover more services
and more people in need of such care.
Provide elder care facilities through
government action and private initiatives
supported by government incentives so that
they are available in various communities.
Introduce new electronic information
system, implementing an electronic health
record system and other systems (Emergency
Department Information, Electronic Provider
Order Entry) to improve patient tracking,
clinical documentation, and efficiency, while
also enabling patients to access “virtual
doctors”, including overseas specialists.
Support medical education, ensuring the
Main Hospital is accredited for internship
programmes and medical school core
rotations. We will also work with a Medical
University to build a “Health City” adjacent
to the new hospital to incorporate training,
research, diagnostic, and testing businesses.
Ensure preschool children have the best
start, by focusing on their health passports
and deliver nutritional guidance from an
early age through an imaginative school
feeding programme.
Introduce a National Disability Strategy
including providing incentives and
assistance to businesses that are required
to make reasonable accommodations to
employ persons with a disability.
TOGETHER WE WIN!
