NDP Manifesto 2025 - Flipbook - Page 16
Creating More Better Paid Jobs
Creating more better paid jobs will be
central to everything we do. An NDP
government will reduce unemployment
and create more fruitful work by
investing in education and training
for young people, rapidly growing the
economy in particular the four pillars
and utilising new technology.
It is not enough to prepare simply our young
people for the future. We must also create the
jobs and opportunities they need to prosper
here. By reorienting and enhancing our training
and education systems, we can ensure that our
people are equipped with in-demand skills and
knowledge that position them to get higher
paid jobs which will be created by our plan for
economic growth. This will recognise the value of
their talents and energy by involving them directly
in building our nation, creating more jobs and
faster economic growth.
When more people, especially youths, contribute
to our country’s workforce, we all benefit.
We will:
Establish the National Jobs and Skills
Agency to help identify and develop indemand skills. We will ensure that skills
development is prioritised and our young
people feel the benefit as a result.
Launch a jobs creation package that will
support businesses to create new jobs,
cutting taxes on businesses and introduce
incentives to recruit for new roles.
Create the National Development Bank
to support businesses across the country to
grow and hire more people.
Create a ‘Business Charter’ to streamline
the process of setting up a business and
provide dedicated long-term support to help
businesses grow.

NEW DEMOCRATIC PARTY MANIFESTO 2025
Implement the Youth Guarantee Pledge
to ensure every young person has the
opportunity for a job, skills training or an
internship.
Use the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an
economic agency to support the opening of
foreign markets for local business, farmers,
and fisherfolk.
Adopt a new procurement approach to
support small businesses to allow them
to access government contracts. We will
break up contracts where it is economical,
so that smaller Vincy businesses can have
the chance to compete for the work. And we
will also reduce bureaucracy by creating a
simple application form and dedicated web
page and timelines for response.
Implement a National Disability
Strategy with specific funds to support
businesses which need to make reasonable
accommodations to employ people with
disabilities.
Reverse the Vaccine Mandate, ensuring
that all public servants have their jobs
restored with full benefits so they can play
their part in our economic growth.
Introduce a National Diaspora Programme
to support our diaspora investing in SVG and
marketing our products abroad.
Speed up processing at our ports and
review all duties and fees to avoid costly
delays that humbug the productive sectors
of our economy.
