Our Plan to Energise the
New Economy
A major strength of SVG is the boundless
creativity, energy and adaptability of
our people.
Many, especially our young people, yearn for
opportunities in information technology, online
businesses, sports and the creative industries.
Poor ICT infrastructure; the absence of e-commerce
payment gateways; limited investment in digital
skills training; poor sporting facilities and a lack
of proper appreciation of our cultural producers,
have stifled the development in this sector.
By enhancing internet connectivity, investing in
community sporting facilities, and supporting
our talented creatives through new financing,
marketing and mentoring support systems, we will
unleash the entrepreneurial and creative energies
of our people to usher in transformational change
in our country.
We will:
Establish a National Innovation Hub to
support entrepreneurs looking to start new
online businesses.
Implement e-commerce payment gateways
to enable the monetisation of digital content
and allow creators to profit from their
passions by tapping into worldwide markets.
Initiate a National Athlete Programme
to support our emerging athletes in their
development.
Upgrade sports facilities across the
country and ensure that every community
has access to lighted playing fields.
Introduce a National AI and Digital
Innovation Policy with sector-specific
strategies for film, sports, fintech, and
creative industries to provide them with the
tools for growth.
Introduce duty-free concessions for
creatives to import digital equipment.

NEW DEMOCRATIC PARTY MANIFESTO 2025
SIDS and the potential of the New
Economy
The New Economy matters because it is
not limited by our size. Digital content can
reach global audiences, giving our creators
far greater earning potential than they
could ever find locally. The same goes for
our athletes, musicians and artists, who
can build international reputations through
online platforms. The digital economy will be
a major driver of national growth, and we
must take it seriously if we want our people
to seize the opportunities it offers.
Enhance digital infrastructure by
expanding broadband coverage,
upgrading cloud and data capabilities, and
implementing strong cybersecurity measures.
Invest in digital literacy programmes,
coding academies, and entrepreneurship
training for youth – providing the next
generation with the skills to succeed in the
New Economy.
Encourage innovation by establishing
regulatory “sandboxes” and startup
incentives to enable risk-taking and testing
in emerging tech sectors.
Establish a National Film Board to
support local film producers and actors and
attract film makers seeking to do filming in
tropical island settings, by marketing to the
traditional film sector, as well as to modern
media like YouTubers and other digital
content creators.
Upgrade the Creative Arts Programme at
the SVG Community College by equipping it
with a modern art room and top of the line
supplies for art students.
Build a Performing Arts Centre to attract
international artists and showcase local
talent.
